Practice Model
At Teen, Tween, and Child Counseling and Consulting, we use the A.P.A Model of Mental Health.
Awareness: North Carolina has faced a youth mental health crisis for many years. Our mission is to continue raising awareness and providing education on youth mental health across the state. As a continuing education director and presenter, I equip professionals with the essential skills to navigate legal, ethical, and therapeutic challenges when supporting children and adolescents.
Through workshops, we equip parents and guardians with the knowledge to recognize behavioral patterns at school, home, and within peer groups, fostering early intervention and support for children in need.
Prevention: We develop training programs for parents, counselors, churches, public and private schools, and other relevant organizations to aid in the prevention of mental health challenges among children. Our focus includes House Bill 7B-101 and Child Protection, suicide prevention, substance abuse, and related policies and procedures. These programs are designed to equip communities with the knowledge and strategies necessary for early intervention and the promotion of mental well-being.
Access: Our practice addresses gaps in mental health services within the Triangle and across North Carolina, with a primary focus on group counseling for children, tweens, and teens. Throughout the care process, we provide strategic referrals to external counseling agencies that offer comprehensive individual and family support, ensuring minors receive the ongoing mental health care they need. Additionally, we collaborate with professionals to enhance their ability to access and navigate mental health services for the minors in their care.
